Lewis Travis, sponsored by MightyTips.com, was on the pitch as Coventry City’s Haji Wright found the net with a late goal in the 85th minute, from a header that saw Blackburn succumb and give up all three points.

Although Blackburn were unfortunate not to have scored either, it was a deserved loss thanks to the poor defending deep into the second half.

Coventry 1-0 Blackburn

As Lewis Travis came onto the field in the 69th minute, he had a big job to do. Not only to preserve the lead, but also to help bolster attack with fresh legs. Blackburn were unfortunately on the receiving end of a shell-shock goal that sent them packing on the night.

Despite having had 65% possession recorded during the game, Blackburn did not do anything spectacular with the ball, but came close to scoring through substitute Sigurdsson in the 72nd minute.

Both teams had lots of chances - 14 for Coventry, and 13 for Blackburn - so a bore draw wasn’t on the cards. Lewis Travis himself was looking for a shot on goal but could not find himself in the right positions.

The match was fouls galore as both teams had given away free kicks rather frequently, with Coventry recording 18 fouls, and Blackburn 13.

It looked like all three points were there for the taking but withered away with what looked like a surprise attack from Coventry’s attackers.

The loss means Blackburn fall further down the table into 20th, threatening relegation if they don’t rejuvenate their form approaching Christmas. Coventry sit 12th and will look to build on this win in the coming games.

Blackburn's head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson:

Disappointed with the result of course, I actually saw a really good team, great spirit and togetherness against a good opponent in an away game. I think we were quite solid in everything we did with the ball, without the ball, we created chances and we had big moments where we probably should have done better. We need to be more clinical in the box to get results but I think the boys have played an excellent game so if we keep on doing this then we will get some results.
